Hall acoustics
From concert halls to sports facilities
Spaces that not only look good, but sound good too
The right acoustics in a given space make all the difference between average and exceptional. Whether it is a concert hall, a classroom or a restaurant, we calculate and optimise acoustic performance so that sound can be experienced at its best.
Room acoustics is a branch of acoustics concerned with the behaviour of sound in spaces. Reducing reverberation time is an important concern, while parameters such as speech intelligibility, potential echoes and background noise levels equally receive the attention they deserve.
1. Study phase
In the first phase, we map out the full set of requirements and needs. If the building already exists, we come on site to take measurements and identify current issues. Based on that information, we develop various scenarios: from simple to highly complex, taking budget requirements and practical feasibility into account. Simulating an audience and/or different sound sources is also possible.
2. Design
We develop the selected scenario into a final design. For each measure we propose, a cost-benefit analysis is carried out to ensure that every cost is justified. This 3D design can easily be adjusted to measure the impact of specific material choices.
3. Execution
Once the work has started, we closely monitor execution in specific phases and carry out interim measurements to ensure that any errors can be identified and corrected quickly.
4. Completion
Upon completion control measurements are carried out to determine acoustic performance and assess this performance against predefined requirements. If certain performance levels prove insufficient, we work with you to find a solution.
